About Activities Outside the Scope of Status ( 打工 )

To International Students
打工 If you plan 打工, you must obtain a Permit for Activities Outside the Scope of Your Status of Residence from the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau.
打工 without obtaining a Permit for Activities Outside the Scope of Your Status of Residence constitutes illegal employment and may result in deportation.

■Submitting the Part-Time Job Application Form

If you plan to start 打工, please be sure to submit 打工 to the administrative office.
Additionally, if there are any changes 打工 (such as termination or changes to your working hours), please submit a change notification form to the administrative office promptly.

■Important Notes for Part-Time Workers

● For students on a student visa, part-time work is limited to 28 hours per week. If you hold multiple part-time jobs, the total hours across all jobs must not exceed 28 hours per week. Please note that this limit applies to the total hours across all jobs, not to any single job.

●During long breaks such as summer vacation, you are permitted to work up to 8 hours per day. However, in accordance with the Labor Standards Act, the total must not exceed 40 hours per week.

●Working at pachinko parlors, arcades, nightclubs, or other establishments deemed inappropriate for students constitutes a violation of the law (engaging in activities outside the scope of your visa status), regardless of the nature of the work.

●There has been an increase in cases where students become involved in criminal activities through part-time work. Please never accept packages on behalf of others or withdraw cash from someone else’s bank account. If you have any questions, be sure to consult the school office.

●Part-time work is permitted under the authorization for activities outside the scope of your student visa. If you graduate from or withdraw from this school, your authorization for activities outside the scope of your visa will become invalid, and continuing to work part-time will be illegal.
